I have been searching for the fountain of youth ever since I was 20 years old. What if I told you that 'staying young is an inside job' and not in the hands of a plastic surgeon or hidden in Egypt, the Aleutian Islands or somewhere off the coast of Brazil, or anyplace else in the world. I'm so glad that my passion for health and wellness was not thwarted by the rigors of the medical industry and the traditional model which recommends pharmaceuticals and surgery.


The simple fact is that aging is not the result of any one single factor, but is the cumulative result of a number of factors, including:

Cell senescence, or the aging of cells

Protein degradation

Diminished telomerase activity

Advanced glycation end products

Excess sugar activity

Progressive systemic inflammation

Progressive dehydration

Excessive body weight

The above list is hardly a complete anti aging program. I could add stress or the accumulation of free radicals in the body or the results of cumulative poor nutrition, etc. The key here is not to identify every single factor (an impossible task), but to understand that if you want to slow the aging process, you have to look at more than a magic bullet approach involving one or two supplements.

The only way to maximize health and lifespan is to use a functional medicine and systemic approach and you need to do everything all at once to assist in the natural anti aging process.

That's actually good news. While there may not be a single magic bullet you can take, there are definitely a series of steps that you can implement that will not only help retard the aging process but will also keep you feeling more youthful, more energized and healthier for longer than you ever thought possible.

Before we address the factors of the aging process and lay out a natural aging program for slowing down and even reversing some of them, we need to separate the factors into seven distinct categories.



"The seven vital factors"
The seven categories provide valuable clues as to how to handle the factors contained within them.


The seven 'primary' categories that affect how we age are:

The things we do to ourselves which are easily correctable (relatively speaking).
The micro level factors programmed into our very cells, which until a few years ago seemed impossible to change.
The macro level factors programmed into our body as we age such as hormonal changes, many of which can indeed be modified
The provider who can help with testing is an important factor and must have training to help implement the best plan
The insurance coverage that will help with the cost of testing and basic provider care
The actual genetic and environment make up of the person/patient is a big factor considering habits and social influences, as well
Future technologies will make a big difference in the ability of the body to correct and heal itself.
